Ford Vs Ferrari

 History of Ford Racing:

It was a car giant clash. In the 1966 Le Mans endurance race, the emerging Ford competed with current champion Ferrari for the checkered flag and bragging rights over the course of a year. The representative of the old world was Enzo Ferrari, a former racing driver and founder of his brand of the same name. Henry Ford II was a new world torch bearer, leveraging the expertise of car designer Carroll Shelby and the new version of the Ford GT40, a staple of international motorsport. Rivals began when Ferrari withdrew from its contract with Ford The fierce competition that existed between the two brands for the '66 Endurance Challenge stemmed from a failed business.
In 1963, Ferrari desperately needed a capital injection for the company, but in the last hour of the Ford Motor Company's acquisition of a cross-Atlantic car racing power that combined the two with an Italian brand, an Italian businessman Ford was embarrassed when he terminated the contract. Others speculate that the negotiations with Ford were a tactic that put pressure on the Italian company Fiat to set a record and buy Ferrari's major stake. Ford wanted revenge on the racetrack Insulted in the boardroom, Ford and his executives planned to catch up with Ferrari at the racetrack, where his greatest success was.
The American company reportedly invested $ 10 million in the development of the Le Mans program, especially the Ford GT (for Grand Touring).  GT will be GT40. This is a number that meets the statutory height requirements of the vehicle, measured in inches of the windshield. Despite all the financial injections into the program, Ford failed in 1964. A year later, none of the four cars developed by the Americans and used in the 24 Hours of Le Mans reached the finish line. To make matters worse for Ford, Ferrari continued to raise the checkered flag, extending the winning streak that had existed since 1960.

Despite the setbacks and sluggish performances of 1964 and 1965, Ford decided to tame Ferrari's prancing horse and harness the expertise of former racing driver and car designer Carroll Shelby.
Shelby was successful in the Daytona Coupe in 1964 and previously developed the first Cobra sports car and presented it to an enthusiastic racing audience. In the GT40 Sport Prototype Racing Program, Shelby helped develop the MKII variant in the years prior to 1966, especially when it was unable to achieve fine-tuning and improved reliability of the transmission.
Shelby's relationship with the 1966 Ford team driver, the Englishman Ken Miles, formed the basis for the 2019 movie Ford v Ferrari.  Daytona and Cobra development and racing. The film follows Shelby (Matt Damon) and Miles preparing and participating in the 1966 French race.
Ferrari sent two cars to the race. Ford came at 8 Confident that he won the last five endurance races at Le Mans, Ferrari only competed in two official cars in 1966. Neither of them finished the race to the disgust of the Italians, giving Ford's MKII vehicle a chance to end Ferrari's race dominance.
Ford abolished eight cars that year.
The three cars under Shelby's direct supervision were driven by Miles and his partners Denny Harm, Jerry Grant's Dan Gurney, Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon. For over 24 hours, the Ford / Shelby team has spent miles on the road to victory, non-stop speeding down a winding eight-mile course in the French countryside and changing the course of racing history in the 1960s. At the final pit stop, three Fords led the race. Miles and Frum finished first, McLaren and Amon second, and Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson in third, despite being 12 laps behind another Ford contestant.
