How Automotive Industry came into being?

History:

Automobile car was first made in the 18th century. The very first cars were built in France and Germany. But the American’s took the lead role in manufacturing the perfect car and started to dominate the automotive business till the first half of 20th century. Automobiles became global because it created opportunity in increasing the economy, transportation of goods and ease of travel from one place to another. All this was originally started in Germany by creative and pioneering men like Gottlieb Daimler, Nicolaus Otto, Karl Benz, and Emile Levassor. In 1901, Mercedes which is one of the leading automobile giants in todays of 53 miles per hour.

Henry Ford who was the founder of Ford Motors, one of the leading automotive companies in the world. He revolutionized mass production techniques of different segment cars. This production technique became standard in Ford, General Motors and Chrysler who emerged as the “Big Three” in the automotive industry in the 1920’s.

Birth of motor car:

Bicycle mechanics Frank and Charles Duryea designed the first ever American Gasoline Automobile in 1893 in Massachusetts. They won the first American car race in 1895 and later on went to make the sales of the American gasoline car in the following year.

Thirty Americans automobile produced 2500 vehicles in the year 1899 and almost 485 companies had entered the market in the next 10 years. In 1908, Henry Ford built the Model T and William Durant founded General Motors.

 Model T:

Henry Ford was a chief engineer at Edison Illuminating Company of Detroit. He worked on his project of gasoline engine that became a huge success in 1893. The engine worked for 30 seconds in its first run putting Ford on the right track of creating history.

The Model T was one of the first ever car to be produced and was well received by general public. Model T was sold from 1908 till 1927, even though other cars were built in 1885 and 1893 but they were not affordable by ordinary people. The Model T was actually affordable and became popular only because of its affordable price. It became so popular that most of the Model T’s were owned by Americans. Ford Motors produced more than 15 million Model T’s between the years 1913 and 1927.

Auto Industry after World War II:

Automobiles played a very important role in building military vehicles and war substantial in the First World War. American’s made 75 unique military essentials that were not just vehicles which had an estimated value of $29 billion dollars. Due to the war, the civilian’s market was crushed down because tires and gasoline products were limited due to the current circumstances at that time. After the war, the increase in demand was increased which resulted in better and new models designed by the Big Three. The cars became more heavier, larger in size, more options, more gadgets and more powerful. The better the car was, the more expensive they were.

 Japanese Automakers:

Japan gradually became one of the first countries to boost their economy through excessive sales in cars. The era of gasoline cars slowly started to end from the year 1966 due to many reasons which were air pollution caused by the cars, road safety, energy consumption, increase in gasoline prices. The oil shocks in 1973 put the final nail in the coffin for gasoline cars in 1979.

Japanese auto manufacturers started to make motorcars that could run on fuel. In 1980, Japan became the world’s leading automotive country and it continues on growing till now.

Social Game Changer:

The automobile industry changed the entire surface of the world with more competition and innovative products. It gradually became a need for everyone, as new services were started to introduce in which motels, hotels, amusement parks, fast food services and much more. Automotive industry also demanded law and government requirements in which road safety was a priority. It also helped create better roads to travel and easy access to destinations. But it did caused harm to the environment through gasoline engine endangering air pollution.
